Hi, my son 16 months old has a fever and runny nose. no big deal, many kids seem to be sick but he also had a tick bite about 2 weeks ago. should we be going to the doctor? no swelling or mark's are visible near where bite was and it feels unrelated

Observation OK: Early Lyme disease from a tick bite can cause fever and malaise, but is usually associated with a rash around the tick bite. If the fever started with the onset of the runny nose, that is the more likely cause. Fever from viral upper respiratory infections usually only last a few days, but if fever is high or persistent and your child appears ill, an evaluation is urgent.
