Many possibilities: Infections of various kinds, including STDs, are common causes of spotting between periods, especially spotting after sex. "No other indication of infection" doesn't mean much; spotting is often the only symptom. Cervicitis, cervical cancer or pre-cancer, various hormonal problems, and others also are possible. Some causes are potentially serious; get professionally evaluated soon. Good luck!
