Hymen status: Your hymen, a membrane around the vaginal opening may be constricted preventing vaginal penetration. If you are presently using vaginal tampons without discomfort then the problem could be "deeper." Have a GYN MD assess the area during an examination to make sure there are no physical GYN issues. There are also emotional concerns such as inadvertent vaginal musculature contractions.(vaginismus).
