A member asked:

My face is swollen i already went to the emergency room because of it. they gave me amoxicillin and 800 milligram ibuprofen. they told me there is nothing to drain but the swelling is now going up into my eye.

Need diagnosis: Face swelling can be caused by sinus infection, infection in the skin of the face (erysipelas), dental abscess and localized reaction to a bug bite. Sometimes there is a lag in response to antibiotics and swelling and redness increases somewhat while the antibiotic starts to work, but if there is no improvement in 24-36 hours from starting Amoxicillin, you need to be seen again.
