A member asked:

5 days ago my baby of 3 months have had a lot of wind in the early morning hours (farts) he is not crying but very uncomfortable when sleep, he is a breast baby but i haven't done anything different ,everything is normal (nappy), what can cause this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basics: The gas a baby makes comes from air they swallow during feeds. To this basic amount is added gas made by normal gut bacteria as it digests left over feeding debris. The amount will vary with air swallowing & germ activity. Germ activity can vary & sometimes probiotics can alter the germ pattern to lessen this effect.
