Sentinel skin tag: A sentinel skin tag is usually results from a fissure or tear of the anal tissue following passage of a large constipated stool. The tag itself is not painful, but the fissure can be uncomfortable both with passing stool and at rest, just like any other cut of the skin. Increasing fluids and fiber in the diet is usually recommended to help in healing but the skin tag remains.
