My husband gets these painful white sores on his tongue. they do not blister or scab. the last sometimes two weeks. what is it? and is it contagious.

Sores: Two top thoughts would be leukoplakia or oral thrush. Leukoplakia is a precancerous lesion that can develop on the tongue. It is in response to irritants such as tobacco or alcohol. For this problem specifically you could see your provider, but your dentist might be a better provider to see.
