A member asked:

Is it possible to recover from severe alcoholic hepatitis, without any resulting fibrosis, or is fibrosis to some extent inevitable after such injury? thanks.

Possible, uncertain: With pure alcoholic hepatitis, i.e. with no progression toward fibrosis (cirrhosis), recovery can be complete. But it can be difficult to tell if cirrhosis has started, esp if hepatitis is sevree, and only time will tell whether fibrosis/cirrhosis is present. Either way, your health will be markedly better if you can avoid alcohol and the hepatitis component clears up. Discuss w/ doctor. Gd luck!
