your question is ??: You get the most from this site when you provide background information like age/symptoms/efforts to treat/etc. followed by a clear related question. You have apparently made an assumption which could be true. The short term effort would be to comfort the kid with a pain reliever approved for his age group & possibly a warm heat source to the ear (cuts the pain). Then arrange to see his doc.
