Short term: Any infection or disease which causes discomfort can cause temporary or short term sleep deprivation due to the discomfort it creates. When compounded by anxiety about NOT getting adequate sleep, the situation worsens. Managing anxiety and pain together should help this be a short lived problem. If not, your doctor can help!

Of course, both: any (a) pain &/or (b) fear of bad things which might happen if you go to sleep will limit relaxation & sleep. Anxiety=fear, the issue is fear of what? Usual human response, if fear seems not easily resolvable, is denial/avoidance. However, these responses never solve the life problems. Seek help worthy of your trust for both the the ear infection & confronting/finding solutions for the fear.
