Vaginosis ?'s: What is called "vaginosis" is caused by bacteria, some of which are influenced by pH changes in the vagina. Yeast (fungal) forms of vaginitis are more frequent given pH changes, but treatment of either can be done by your gyn physician.

Probably not: Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of mostly normal vaginal bacteria. The exact causes are not known. Hormone fluctuations may result in minor differences in symptoms, but do not cause BV. Vaginal pH typically is elevated, but that's a result of BV, not the cause. BV treatment and prevention can be complex -- see a doctor for individual advice. Good luck.
