Have duodenogastric bile reflux. surgeon ordered a 24 hr ph /impedence test. how does impedence part work? does that just mean it can identify bile?

PH and Reflux: pH tells if stomach contents coming up into esophagus. Impedance test tells whether there is actual reflux mechanism or muscle contractions of stomach/lower esophagus. You also keep diary of date/time of symptoms (heartburn, sore throat, cough, chest pain, etc). Helps them to determine how best to treat this for you. Hope this was helpful.
