Absent period ?'s: At 40, there may be times when your period is delayed secondary to your ovaries requirements for more stimulating hormone prior to ovulation. With delays in ovulation, your period will also be delayed. Regular menses should generally occur again, but as your ovaries age, the follicles do not respond to the same level of hormones from the pituitary.
