Obesity & O.C.'s: Oral contraceptive hormone pills are impacted by obesity and BMI's in excess of 30. A BMI of 27 is considered overweight and not yet obese and this is a good time to reduce the BMI. The theory as to why obesity impacts the pill, is that the peripheral fat can and does make hormones that feedback to the pituitary gland just as the contraceptive pill does and interferes with its' action.
