Pseudogout and Gout: Haemochromatosis is linked to pseudogout. People who have haemochromatosis have excessive stores of iron which can lead to calcium pyrophosphate crystal deposits into the joints. These deposits cause symptoms that are very similar to the symptoms of gout. The inflammation caused by gout is from uric acid crystals that deposit into the joints.
