Apply only to skin: Tretinoin can be lightly applied to the eyelids if you have eczema, itching or redness. Try to keep it from entering the eye. Long term application will lid to skin thinning and fragility so do this in short bursts of 1-2 weeks with several weeks off..

Possible harm: The drug manufacturer recommends keeping the med “away from the corners of the nose, mouth, eyes and open wounds. Spread away from these areas when applying.” The reason is that medicine may irritate/inflame the skin and/or cause peeling. There’s no measure of how close is too close, so just aware of the precaution. Perhaps test it first further away from the eyes to see how the skin responds.
