Go to hospital: Any 6 wk old with a fever of 38C should be seen immediately at a facility capable of providing hospital level care. Germs passed to the baby during labor/delivery including group B strep can cause a delayed infection that can be rapidly fatal unless treated early. The first 8-12 weeks are the most vulnerable period for this issue.
