Normal vocalizations: Many infants have a large collection of noises they make with their airways. They really have no social conscience at all & are not concerned that it bothers us.

Follow up: While an occasional grunting sound in an infant may be normal, if it persists, is positional, associated with poor weight gain, respiratory distress or sweating, a further evaluation is needed.
