Yes, unfortuanely: If the diagnosis is correct this rash can be permanent. Even if the source of heat to the area has been stopped. One can try and fade (but not fully fade) the rash using topical 5-fluoroucil or laser treatments to fade some of the pigmentation. I hope this was helpful. Best of luck with this. Dr R
