Don't treat yourself: The ring finger is very important with respect to grip strength of your hand. Orthopaedic surgeons spend years training in order to diagnose and treat these injuries properly. Do yourself a favor and see an orthopaedic surgeon or go to an er or urgent care center to have an xray and receive proper treatment.

I wouldnt: Unless you can get your own x-rays and read them i wouldn't. How serious an injury is this? If there is any displacement of the finger you definitely need to see a dr or risk permanent deformity or loss of function.
