No: you may have "cryptic" tonsils ( Tonsils with collections of sterile pus like material) usually seen with enlarged frequently infected tonsils. this can occur WITH a viral sore throat! IRRIGATION of the tonsils may be beneficial...check this out with your PCP. Hope this is helpful! Dr Z

Strep test was neg but doc said tonsils had white spots so he prescribed cefdinir. Im on day 3 and throat is still as bad if not worse. Any advice?
