A member asked:

I suffer from gastritis and have been taking omephrozol for the last 15 years. what are the side effects or possible consequences of taking such meds for such a long period of time gastritis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PPI's: In recent years the medical literature has been filled with articles describing harmful effects of taking medications like omeprazole long term. I would consider switching to another class of medications called H2 blockers which are effective for gastritis. These include zantac and pepcid.
