Depands: Endocarditis is what I call a domino event. First there are factors about the patient that makes them more likely to get it, like having abnormal heart valves or a hole in your heart. Then the bite must have a germ that gets past the bodies usual defenses (white cells and others) & enter the blood to travel to the heart. This is an unlikely sequence, but in medicine almost anything is possible.
