A member asked:

Is the fib 4 or nfs score reliable at ruling out advanced liver disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe.: Hi, I’m Dr. Pena and I’ll try to answer your question as best as possible. FIB-4 index is a simple, relatively inexpensive, non-invasive score used to estimate liver scarring in patients. It correlates 4 parameters: patient’s age, AST, ALT and platelet count (which are available at primary care facilities) with the stage of fibrosis in adult subjects with NAFLD.
