Lotion vs Spray: Important issues: 1. use a product with a high enough SPF – recommend SPF of at least 30. 2. Apply at least 15 to 20 minutes prior to sun exposure. 3. Apply adequately. tudies show that many people who use spray only use a 1/4th of the amount needed. You may need to spray for up to 6 seconds per area. A benefit of spray over lotion is that it may be used on hard to reach areas.
