In your face: The anesthetic will affect all of the hard and soft tissues in the immediate area of the tooth. Nothing to worry about.

Local anesthesia: Numbs all of the tissues, hard and soft, in a small surrounding area. The anesthesia may even be wearing off by the time you get home. If you are concerned, talk to the General Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon that will be treating you. This is a procedure done multiple thousands of times all over the world, in the same day, without complication. Nothing to be scared about.
