If a male has both genital hsv1 & 2, what is the rate of transmission to a female during unprotected sex, no outbreak, and daily 500mg medication?

Low risk, not zero: First, genital HSV1 is rarely sexually transmitted at all. Almost all new genital HSV1 infections come from receiving oral sex. Treatmentwith valacyclovir (Valtrex) probably makes almost no difference. The risk of HSV2 transmission is reduced by about 50% to 70% by valaycyclovir (Valtrex) treatment. For any single exposure, the tranmission risk probably is something like 1 chance in a thousand.
