Subcutaneous air: It's possible you have some air captured under the skin at the time of the operation, causing crackles or "crepitus" until the air is reabsorbed; this normally happens more quickly than 7 week. Or perhaps the replaced portion of bone is causing the cracking sound. If it gets worse, if painful/tender, or if fever develops see your doctor immediately.
