A member asked:

Can penicillin challenge test (intradermal - positive) cause transient synovitis of the hip? 4 days after test, 5 yr old has diagnosis of synovitis.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doubt it: focal synovitis of the hip at that age is usually caused by a kid jumping down heal first on that leg from some height. They are fine for a while But the event causes the fluid accumulation which lasts a day or two before resolving. The kid then resumes normal movement. I cannot see where the test would trigger such a focal process.
