I had a lumbar puncture yesterday and the fluid was clear. does that mean everything is okay?

Possibly : clear fluid is a good sign, but further testing that is usually routine should be done to r/o any abnormalities that could present with a clear fluid. ask your doc for all of the results from the lab

Some basics: The lumbar fluid normally contains various concentrations of proteins, sugar & some chemicals that are not visible to the naked eye. The pressure of the fluid is also important, depending on why the procedure was done. Cloudy fluid would suggest an infection, but there are other worrisome things that may be in clear fluid. When/if you submit a question you should post why such a procedure was done

No.: If it is not clear, that is abnormal. If it is clear, that is a normal appearance, but there could still be abnormalities present when the fluid is analyzed by the lab.
