Right,dry throat: If you're in the midst of a viral upper respiratory tract infection rather than a documented bacterial throat infection, the antibiotic won't be effective. Relieve your throat symptoms by gargling with warm salt water and suck on throat lozenges and drink adequate fluids. Viral throat infections often precede a head cold.
