A member asked:

What is beamed-radiation treatment for metastatic tumors within the chest cavity?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IMRT: Intensity modulated radiation therapy can be delivered to the chest cavity using a linear accelerator to deliver precise radiation doses to the metastatic tumor while minimizing the radiation effect to the surrounding normal tissue. Cyberknife therapy can also be used for smaller lesions with high intensity beams more effectively destroying the lesion.
