I have a 7week and 5day old baby that is coughing.the cough sounds phlemy but she has no fever and is nursing well, she just coughs now and again seems to be worse at night. should i take her to a dr? or when should we be worried?

Other features: Most kids at that age cough because of environmental irritants like dust/fumes/ fragrances/etc. If the kid feeds well, plays & is otherwise normal just monitor the situation. A nasal washout with saline can help. If feedings decline along with play activities have her seen.

Congestion?: At this age, the immune system is not fully developed. If there a low grade fever, please your pediatrician right away. Continue feedings at an angle and use nasal saline drops to remove mucus as directed for infants.
