Some sleep basics: The normal adult/older kid sleep pattern includes gradually entry into deep sleep for 3-4 hrs. They then cycle through variations of shallower/deeper sleep on 45-90 min intervals until they awake for the day. The shallow phase may include light wakening but most forget this. If you have anxiety, pain or other issues in your mind you may alert/remember & may not be able to return to sleep.
