Screen vs confirming: Screening tests like the nt are less expensive studies aimed at selecting out the subgroup that would benefit from more expensive but more accurate tests. A NIPS study takes maternal blood as soon as 10 wks & finds a babies cells that can be tested for DS and many other issues. Please discuss this with your doc. Screening tests do not conclude there is a problem they just help find or exclude them
