A member asked:

Does a recurring kidney infection mean cronic kidney disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A recurring kidney: infection means that you have an infection in the genitourinary tract, generally meaning your bladder gets infected with a bacterium, not often your kidneys. If you did have a kidney infection, it is generally because you had risk factors such as kidney stones or sexual transmitted diseases that may predispose you. Chronic kidney disease is usually caused by hypertension, diabetes, or others.
