A member asked:

I have swollen tonsils (99% sure it is tonsillitis) with large pockets (holes) forming on both sides. can this be treated or is it a waiting game?

Immediate treatment: including strep cultures and aggressive antibiotic therapy. ENT exam for probable need for tonsillectomy.

Treated ?: This public site does not offer diagnosis or treatment, it offer answers to health questions.Tonsillitis can either be viral or strep. Viral will self heal over time. Strep will often feel better in a few days with no rx but can trigger antibodies that eventually lead to heart/brain or kidney complications. The only way to know if it is strep & needs treatment is to test for it (simple office test)
