Chest pains: Chest pains which are sharp,shooting and brought on by a deep breath may be caused by pleurisy, pneumonia, embolism, pinched nerve, rib injury or strain of rib cage. Fever and cough would favor an inflammation/infection. I recommend an examination by a physician if pain persists. A chest xray may be recommended unless it is felt to be a nonserious condition.
