Depo DUB: The lining of the uterus responds to Estrogen and Progesterone which work in concert to keep the lining ready to sustain a pregnancy. When you take DepoProvera you "overload" the lining with Progesterone thereby thinning the lining of the uterus and overcoming the effect of Estrogen. The bleeding occurs as the lining thins until it is so thin that you no longer bleed.
