A member asked:

What does carotid arteries vascular calcifications may predispose the patient to an increased risk for stroke and cardiovascular disease mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Modify risk factors!: What that means is that they saw small calcium deposits in your carotids and we know that patients who have those deposits can be at higher risk for stroke & cardiovascular disease (heart disease and/or peripheral vascular disease) than patients who do not. The most important thing is to make sure your blood sugar/pressure/cholesterol are normal and don't smoke, as those will lower your risk!
