IFK: The cause of inverted follicular keratosis or keratosis pilaris is not fully understood. It is thought to be a genetic disorder of keratinization ( the process by which body turns cells in to hairs and nails) that results in the formation of horny plugs in the hair follicle orifices.

Non-healing ulcer: A basal cell carcinoma needs to be excluded. You should see your doctor to ascertain if the lesion needs to excised and tissue sent to a pathologist for examination.
