It should not.: Valproic acid that is taken up by the liver and develops a level in the blood that helps to control seizures. It does have toxic effects on the liver and on the blood, but these effects are rare and usually are obvious within the first three months of use. Herbal supplements if taken in moderation should have no effect. If nausea develops, liver tests and blood count should be obtained.
