A member asked:

I was bitten by a stray kitten that appeared healthy. i was vaccinated against rabies (3 shots) 6 years ago. am i protected or do i need a prophylaxis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Regional issue/maybe: The vaccine series is considered effective protection for 2 years from initial completion. You may have some residual antibodies but they may not be at a protective level. Rabies activity among animals/type is reported to the state. If there is rabid animals in your region the county health department or local ER would provide you with the recommendations for your exposure.
