Virus: A diagnosis of a viral gastrointestinal tract infection is reasonable. Diarrhea may follow. Treatment would be resting, drinking adequate fluids which could include flat ginger ale, soft bland solids and no roughage foods and Tylenol as needed. Intermittent ear aches warrant an examination to check for middle ear infection although nasal congestion,if present, can cause ear aches.
