Other way around: Theinfected tooth causes the abscess. There are no pills, poultices, or snake oil that will cure. Tooth requires root canal Rx/crown or extraction/implant/crown, possibly supplemented by antibiotics. In other words, you need a Dentist. OTC NSAIDs (exactly as per package directions) and cold compresses may help take edge off until you get to a Dentist.

Use a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and keep the warm water in the area of the tooth for about 5 minutes. This means that as the water cools replace it with warm water. Even though this might reduce the pain, it is important to see a dentist to removed the infection within the tooth.
