A member asked:

I'm type 2 diabetic and i was just admitted to the icu for being in dka. does the fact that i've now had dka make me more prone to it in the future?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

DKA: DKA is usually for only type one diabetics. Often I have diabetic patients which I am increasing their medications. This happens often when a patient gains weight after eating more, when their diabetes is in control, resulting in a bad cycle. This can be improved if a patient controls their diet and loses weight. Patients should be encouraged to know their health is often in their control.
