Some basics: Constipation in a 2 yo is often related to diet (bananas, rice cereal, breads) or their desire not to go because it hurt one time. Failing to go regularly allows the large intestine to overstretch/balloon & the stool to dry excessively. Lactulose (duphalac) helps many but must be used until the ballooning recedes (twice as long as constipated or 6 mo) . Your doc may be able to help.
