Some basics: Constipation in a 2 yo is often related to diet (bananas, rice cereal, breads) or their desire not to go because it hurt one time. Failing to go regularly allows the large intestine to overstretch/balloon & the stool to dry excessively. Lactulose (duphalac) helps many but must be used until the ballooning recedes (twice as long as constipated or 6 mo) . Your doc may be able to help.

Agree with Dr. F: You may wish to add fiber to your child's diet and make sure that she drinks enough water so that her urine is mostly colorless. You may visit this site for information on fiber foods: http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/high-fiber-foods/art-20050948
