A member asked:

What could cause undereye circles in a perfectly healthy child?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibilities...: Sometimes dark circles under the eyes, especially if they have been present for a very long time and are constant, are genetic. They are just a normal variant of skin coloration around the eyes. Allergies (environmental) are another common cause (these are called allergic shiners). If the dark eyes are more recent or transient, not sleeping well can also cause them.
