"Squamous cells" ?: A pap smear reporting "reactive squamous cells" is a comment on benign inflammatory changes in the cervix. The "negative" statement refers to the lack of squamous cell abnormalities found with HPV viral changes which could be pre-malignant.

Agree with Dr. B: Reactive squamous cells are not worrisome. Do follow your doctor's advice about repeat tests. You are young enough to get HPV vaccine and should get it.
