My daughter wants to give my 18 mth old grand baby tylenol and motrin every 3 hours instead of every 6 hours will this harm her?

Yes: Motrin is at most every 6 hours, tylenol every 4 but have to watch the doses very carefully as can be confusing. Why give it,need more information. For Fever/pain?Fever is not a bad thing and actually a good thing, but what causes the fever may be bad.If the baby is febrile and playful eating etc,you may or may not want to treat the fever.Treat the fever if the baby is feeling bad.

It may: Motrin is disposed of through the kidneys & exceeding the dose or shortening the 6 hr recommended interval can cause kidney damage over time. Tylenol when given in excess or shortened interval can cause liver damage. She should use one or the other at recommended dose & interval. Her treatment choice can do more harm than fever ever would.
